Introducing XHUMA HealthBoards Solution

In the Caribbean, as elsewhere, all healthcare professions are regulated by a Professional Council or Authority. Such Councils are the only bodies mandated by law to grant licenses for professional practice within a sovereign territory and are generally required to maintain a Register of bona-fide practitioners, monitor qualifications, and provide for the best interests of the profession, among other things.  The lack of supporting technology systems employed by Healthcare Councils however, can mitigate their ability to carry out their legally mandated functions.

Healthcare Councils and Associations not Making Full use of Technology

Modern, cloud-based and mobile-enabled technology solutions are needed to assist these health institutions in critical areas such as:

  • The maintenance of a real-time and up-to-date listing of all practicing professionals – for Council reference as well as for public/ employer reference, insurers and other stakeholders
  • The management of registration renewals including the collection of renewal fees
  • Communication with registrants concerning AGMs, Elections or other events mandated by the governing Act as well as optional events around professional development, and continuing education, etc
  • The ability to get an all-round professional view of a registrant and ensure that qualifications certifications
  • Generation of data insights and reports, for submission to the governing ministry, and/or other stakeholders – in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Geographically map and visualize where healthcare personnel work, generate accurate data on what specialty capabilities they possess and what geographies are most underserved. Such capability would help to determine what are the options to deploy / re-deploy available capacity to best respond to crises and make health systems more robust even after a specific crisis event is over.
